Is Velton free?
Yes. During the alpha Velton is free to download and use, with every feature included.
Will it stay free?
Pricing for the full 1.0 release hasn’t been decided yet. When it is, it will be published here first.
Is anything locked in the free version?
No. There are no tiers or add-on packs during the alpha: recording, editing, MIDI, mixing, all 66 effects, plugin hosting and stem separation are all included.
Can I use my own plugins?
Yes. Velton hosts VST3 and CLAP effects and instruments, and Audio Units on Mac. They run in a separate sandbox process, so a crashing plugin doesn’t take your session down with it.
Which platforms does Velton run on?
Mac (macOS 12 or later, Apple silicon and Intel), Windows 10 or 11 (Intel, AMD and Arm PCs) and Linux. Windows and Linux are the newest, so tell us how they run.
What about Velton Console?
Velton Console, the remote for live mixing desks, is free to download during the alpha.
What about Velton Live?
Velton Live, the backing-track player for the stage, is free to download during the alpha.
What about Velton Sketch?
Velton Sketch, the phone app for song ideas, is still being tested. Recording, the music tools and export will work without an account, and every account gets 1 GB of free space for ideas.
What does “alpha” mean?
Velton is under active development. The core studio is built and being tested in real sessions, new features are still landing, and you should expect rough edges — keep backups of projects that matter.
